Two Azerbaijani citizens sentenced on charge of involvement in war in Syria
The Baku Court of Grave Crimes has completed the trial in the criminal case against Telman Bekirov and Mubariz Tairov, accused of involvement in illegal armed formations (IAFs) in the territory of Syria. Each of them was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 9, seven Azerbaijani citizens were detained on suspicion of involvement in the activities of IAFs, including the organization of "Islamic State" (IS), in the territories of Syria and Iraq. The trial in the criminal case against Telman Bekirov and Mubariz Tairov was started on October 6. They gave testimonies and pleaded not guilty while stating that they had never been to Syria and that they lived in Turkey.
Today, the trial in the criminal case against Telman Bekirov and Mubariz Tairov has been completed. The court has sentenced each of the defendants to 14 years of imprisonment.
