Hurriyet: 12 natives of Northern Caucasus detained in Turkey

The newspaper Hurriyet has reported that the Istanbul police detained natives of Chechnya and Dagestan on suspicion of involvement in the "Islamic State" (IS).

According to a newspaper's source, all the 12 persons detained during the counterterrorist operation (CTO) within the inquiry into the terror act committed in Ankara on October 10.

The above source said that one of the detainees is Mokhammed Ali-Hadji S., a native of Chechnya, who is the leader of the IS in Chechnya and Dagestan. According to his story, two of the detained natives of Dagestan – Aslan T. and Makhmud Sh. – were engaged in recruiting residents of the republic willing to join the IS and sending them to Syria.

It is not specified that the detainees are suspected of involvement in the terror act in the Turkish capital, the RIA "Novosti" reported.

Two explosions were committed by suicide bombers in the capital of Turkey on October 10 on the eve of the rally, organized by trade unions and public organizations. According to official data, the explosions killed 102 people; and more than 500 others turned for medical help. Turkish law enforcers identified one of perpetrators of the terror act in Ankara – he turned out to be a brother of the militant who had triggered a blast earlier this July in the city Suruç; both were associated with the IS, the "Channel One" reports.
