Consideration of Ramzan Kadyrov's appeal against ban of book with quotations from Koran postponed

The decision of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk City Court to recognize as extremist material of the book "Prayer (dua) to Allah: its meaning and place in Islam" have been challenged by the Russian Council of Muftis, one of the reviewers of the book "Prayer to Allah", and other persons. In this regard, according to the City Court, the appeal filed by Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has not been sent for the consideration to the Sakhalin Regional Court.

On August 19, the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk City Court recognized as an extremist material the book "Prayer (dua) to Allah: its meaning and place in Islam," which consisted of the translation of the Koran verses and sayings attributed to the Prophet Muhammad. The copy of the judgment was disseminated on the Internet on September 8.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 9, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov announced the preparation of the appeal against the ban of the book with quotations from the Koran. On September 16, the original copy of his appeal was received by the Court.

"Apart from the appeals field by the leader of the Chechen Republic and the Prosecutor's Office of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, the Court has received several other appeals, including those filed by the Russian Council of Muftis, one of the reviewers of the book 'Prayer to Allah', and other persons. One of the last non-resident appeals has come by fax, and its original copy is expected to arrive soon. After that, all of the appeals together with the case materials will be forwarded to the Sakhalin Regional Court," the "Interfax" quotes today a source from the City Court as stating.
