Nadezhda Savchenko's defence reports on false evidence in her case
At the trial in the case against Ukrainian aviator Nadezhda Savchenko, the court in the Rostov Region has questioned two victims and listened to the written testimony of the third victim. The defendant's defence has claimed a lot of coincidences in the testimonies of the victims and called that fact an "intellectual fraud".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Nadezhda Savchenko is accused of involvement in the killing of two employees of the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (known as VGTRK) near Lugansk and illegal border crossing. The case against Nadezhda Savchenko is being considered at the Donetsk City Court in the Rostov Region. The defence insists on her innocence.
The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" has included the name of Nadezhda Savchenko in the list of persons recognized as political prisoners.
"After reviewing the testimonies given by the victims, we see a so-called intellectual fraud: the testimonies include a lot of coincidences and use the same phrases. It has been found out that not only intellectual, but also physical fraud took place: the case materials contain the protocol of the questioning of victim Talalaev, which was typed on a PC and signed. I will not be surprised if tomorrow the victim will say that the investigator brought a printer and a PC to his apartment," said Ilya Novikov, the defendant's advocate.
At present, no comments of public prosecutors concerning the progress of the trial are available to the "Caucasian Knot".
