Anzor Gubashev retracts his confession in Boris Nemtsov murder case

On September 17, at the re-interrogation, Anzor Gubashev, one of the defendants in Boris Nemtsov murder case, retracted his earlier confession, the "Interfax" reports with reference to the advocate Musa Khadisov.

Boris Nemtsov was shot dead on February 27 in Moscow. In connection with the crime, five natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia were detained, namely: Zaur Dadaev, Anzor Gubashev, Khamzat Bakhaev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Shagid Gubashev.

According to Anzor Gubashev, several days after his arrest, he made a confession, since some field investigators engaged in investigation promised him in return to his confession to release his younger brother Shagid involved in the same case as an accomplice. According to Anzor Gubashev, he believed in the above promise, and he not only confessed to the crime, but also persuaded his relative to cooperate with the investigators, the "Kommersant" reports.

Anzor Gubashev has said that all this time he was waiting for the release of his brother. However, since he stayed at SIZO (pre-trial prison), he decided to "tell the truth".

According to new testimony of Anzor Gubashev, he was not a member of any political parties and "religious sects" and therefore, he had no motives to take revenge on Boris Nemtsov, the "Kommersant" reports.

It should be noted that, according to a source close to the investigation, earlier, Shagid Gubashev has also retracted his confession and asked to re-interrogate him.
