Sergey Titarenko to appeal against fine for reposting message about Vladimir Putin

Activist Sergey Titarenko refuses to plead guilty to public calls to extremism and treats the verdict of the Krasnodar court as unfair.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Krasnodar court found Sergey Titarenko guilty under Part 1 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Public calls for extremist activities" and sentenced the activist to a fine. The criminal case was initiated on the basis of a reference to the message of the "Kolomoisky broadcasting" group with the text about Vladimir Putin under the caption "No dictator no problem" posted by Sergey Titarenko on his page on the social network.

On September 17, Sergey Titarenko informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he intends to prepare an appeal against the decision on the fine made by the Krasnodar court.

"They failed to identify the author of the post. During the preliminary investigation, I requested them to identify the author. I was refused in that, although I just reposted the material posted by someone else," said Sergey Titarenko.

According to him, during the investigation and trial, his "relation to the post was not revealed," and he "did not write any comments to the post."
