Deni Mirzoev sentenced to two years of imprisonment in penal settlement-colony

The Dorogomilovsky District Court of Moscow has found Deni Mirzoev, a resident of Grozny, guilty of committing a road traffic accident in the centre of Moscow, which killed a biker. The Court has partially granted the civil lawsuits against the defendant.

On May 22, in Kutuzovsky Avenue in Moscow, a car with Chechen state license plates hit biker Vitaly Grishin. According to investigators, the car was driven by Deni Mirzoev, who was hospitalized after the road traffic accident.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at the court hearing held on September 1, Deni Mirzoev pleaded guilty to committing the road traffic accident. He has noted that he fell asleep while driving the car. Deni Mirzoev also declared his willingness to pay compensation to the family members of the deceased biker until the end of his life.

At the end of the court hearing, the Grozny resident was found guilty under article "Violation of traffic rules, resulting by negligence in the death of a person" of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The defendant was sentenced to two years of imprisonment in a penal settlement-colony.

As far as the civil claims filed by the victims are concerned (they demanded to compensate them for non-pecuniary damage in the amount of 8 million roubles, note of the "Caucasian Knot"), the Court obliged the defendant to pay them 1.2 million roubles.
