Chechen pilgrims did not suffer at collapse of mosque in Mecca

As reported by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM), there are no casualties and victims among this year's Chechen Hajj pilgrims as a result of the tragedy in the Al-Haram Mosque in Mecca.

Hajj is a pilgrimage to the holy places of Muslims in the cities of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia, which is a must for every Muslim believer, who has reached the age of majority and financial and other opportunities to make the travel.

The Al-Haram Mosque – the Grand Mosque – is the main and the world's largest mosque, the yard of which houses the main shrine of Islam – the Kaaba.

On September 11, a fall of a construction crane in the Muslim holy city killed and wounded hundreds of pilgrims. According to the latest data, 107 people died and 238 were injured.

Relatives of the pilgrims said that immediately after the news about the tragedy in Mecca they began calling up their loved ones, who are making the Hajj.

A large-scale reconstruction of the Al-Haram Mosque in Mecca was launched two years ago. On this occasion, the Saudi authorities have significantly reduced quotas for pilgrims from different countries. This year, about 2600 residents of Chechnya are making their pilgrimage to Mecca.
