Sons of Azerbaijani professor declared internationally wanted

The authorities of Azerbaijan have declared wanted via the Interpol two sons of Siyavush Azakov, Professor at the Baku Higher Oil School. Eldar and Farid Azakov are suspected of misappropriation of funds. According to their father, they became victims of slander.

According to the Interpol, the 38-year-old Eldar Azakov is suspected of a large-scale misappropriation and embezzlement; while his 35-year-old brother Farid – of involvement in money laundering.

As stated by the Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan, the Azakov brothers escaped from the country; therefore, they were put on the international wanted list, the APA reports.

The Azakov brothers are currently residing in the USA, said their father, Siyavush Azakov, who is the head of the division of petroleum engineering at the Baku Higher Oil School. According to his version, Eldar Azakov had worked with foreign clients, who opened a company in Baku. Foreigners offered Azakov to participate in illegal operations, but he refused to cooperate; then, a complaint was lodged against the brothers to the Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan, the "Vesti.az" quotes Siyavush Azakov as saying.
