Over 1500 spectators attended charity concert "In Memory of the Dead" in Moscow

The proceeds from the charity concert "In Memory of the Dead", the tickets for which were from 300 to 1500 roubles, will be given to families of killed journalists. The organizers of the event paid tribute to the Centre for Protection of Media Rights, the head of which this year was awarded the "Kamerton" (Tuning Fork) Award named after Anna Politkovskaya.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 8, on the Day of International Solidarity of Journalists, Moscow hosted the fifth charity concert "In Memory of the Dead", organized by the Russian Union of Journalists. The awarding of the "Kamerton" Prize also took place there. This year its laureate is Galina Arapova, the director of the Centre for Protection of Media Rights.

As noted by the organizers of the event, the proceeds from the sale of tickets for this concert will be delivered to the families of 350 perished journalists.

The concert was attended by over 1500 spectators. Guests of the charity concert paid tribute to the Centre for Protection of Media Rights.

"Many organizations, which are widely advertising their activities, are just nominal entities. In contrast, the Centre for Protection of Media Rights has been really helping journalists," said Darya Zakharova, a member of the Russian Union of Journalists.
