Companies in Karachay-Cherkessia and North Ossetia have been sanctioned by the EU.

Under the new sanctions of the European Union, two enterprises from Karachay-Cherkessia and three organizations from North Ossetia have been affected. The personal part of the list also includes the leaders of companies from these regions.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in early October, the UK imposed new sanctions against Russia, with restrictions placed on 23 individuals and eight vessels. The lists include an advisor to the President of Russia, Putin, the former president of South Ossetia, Alan Gagloev, and his successor in this position, Marat Kambolov.

Two companies from Karachay-Cherkessia have been added to the sanctions list: JSC "Eliya Factory", located in the village of Uchkeiken, and JSC "Cascade", operating in Cherkessk. From the enterprises of North Ossetia, OJSC "Magnit" in Vladikavkaz, JSC "Scientific Production Association 'Binom'", also located in Vladikavkaz, and OJSC "Alagir Resistance Factory" in Alagir have been subjected to restrictions, reports "Kommersant".

The personal list includes the general director of "Eliya Factory" Abubakir Tambiev and the head of "Cascade" Aslan Jankezov. In North Ossetia, the sanctions have affected the general director of "Magnit" Marat Yzeev, the head of the Alagir Resistance Factory Elbrus Tsomaev, and the external manager of the "Binom" association Roman Lapich.

The basis for including the five enterprises, the Council of the EU stated, is their affiliation with the Russian military-industrial complex. The decision notes that the Russian authorities classified these organizations in the relevant category, granting them the right to federal subsidies to cover housing costs for employees.

"The mentioned organizations are listed in a list recently approved by the Government of the Russian Federation, in which they are classified as part of the Russian military-industrial complex and, therefore, have the right to receive subsidies from the Government of the Russian Federation. In this regard, the Council believes that these organizations are part of Russia's military-industrial complex. The mentioned individuals hold leadership positions in these organizations, and the Council believes that they thereby support Russia's military-industrial complex," the document of the EU Council states.

The decision of the EU Council dated October 12, 2026, provides for the addition of 826 organizations and 743 individuals to the sanctions list. The EU Council explains the new restrictions as a continuation of Russia's military actions against Ukraine.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in May, five Russian companies and 23 individuals from Russia, including the mother of the head of Chechnya, Aiman Kadyrov, were included in the sanctions list of Canada. The Canadian authorities cited "the ideological processing and militarization of Ukrainian children by the Russian authorities" as the reason.
