Imam killed in Dagestan is the second Islamic leader killed this month in Northern Caucasus

Three weeks before the today's murder of Imam Magomed Khidirov in Dagestan, Zamirbek Makhmutov, Deputy Imam of the aul (village) of Irgakly, was killed in the Stavropol Territory.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this morning, Imam Magomed Khidirov has been shot dead in front of the local mosque in the village of Novy Kurush of the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan.

This is the second killing of an Islamic leader in Northern Caucasus during the past three weeks. On August 20, in the Stavropol Territory, Zamirbek Makhmutov, Deputy Imam of the aul of Irgakly of the Stepnovsky District, was found dead.
