Ramzan Kadyrov quarrels with GPO on ban of book with Koran quotations

The Russian General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) has called unacceptable the insulting statements made by the Chechen leader with regard to the judge and the public prosecutor in connection with the fact that the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk City Court had banned the book based on quotations from the Koran. Ramzan Kadyrov has claimed that he does not retract his statements, and the Court's decision has been already challenged.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 19, the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk City Court recognized as an extremist material the book "Prayer (Dua) to Allah: Its Meaning and Place in Islam", which consisted of the translation of the Koran verses and sayings attributed to the Prophet Muhammad. On September 9, Ramzan Kadyrov announced his intention to seek the recognition of the Court's decision as extremist and aimed at undermining the stability in Russia.

In their statements concerning the Court's decision, the Chechen leader has called the judge and the public prosecutor "devils", betrayers, and provocateurs. The GPO of Russia has treated those statements as an insult of "judges and public prosecutors in the field related to their professional activities."

The Ramzan Kadyrov's response to the claims voiced by the GPO has been published this night. According to the Chechen leader, the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk City Court's decision "has nothing in common" with the professional activities of the judge and the public prosecutor.

Besides, the Chechen leader expresses an opinion that the judge and the public prosecutor "could act directly or indirectly in favour of the hostile forces within the country or abroad" and tried to "raise protests and riots in our country and create tension between Muslims and followers of other religions."
