Two residents of Dagestan accused of assassination attempt on FSB agent
According to investigators, the defendants are involved in undermining the car of Magomedsaid Gadjiev, Chief of the Inter-District FSB Department for the Karabudakhkent District, who later died in hospital. They are also accused of involvement in an illegal armed formation (IAF).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the assassination attempt on Magomedsaid Gadjiev was committed on November 22, 2010. The explosive device detonated when the FSB officer drove to his work by car.
According to the press service of the Russian Prosecutor's Office, Magomedjamil Lezhbedinov and Dagir Khakimov, residents of the Karabudakhkent District, were accused of committing the crime. Investigators believe that in August 2009, Magomedjamil Lezhbedinov joined an IAF, which operated in the Karabudakhkent District, and then persuaded Dagir Khakimov to join the same criminal grouping.
"Being members of the criminal grouping, Magomedjamil Lezhbedinov and Dagir Khakimov took part in the commission of crimes, including serious and very serious crimes. In particular, in 2010, they committed an assassination attempt on the chief of the Russian FSB Department for the Karabudakhkent District by planting an improvised explosive device (IED) under the bottom of his car," the website of the Russian Prosecutor's Office reports.
In its turn, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has reported that the defendants were members of the IAF led by Ibragimkhalil Daudov.
