Authorities promise 2 billion roubles on reconstruction of water treatment plant in Sochi

The administration of the Krasnodar Territory plans to build a system to prevent flooding in the Adler District of Sochi. The need for reconstruction became evident after the June flooding.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 25, Sochi was affected by heavy rains; as a result, a part of the city was flooded. On June 26, the Ministry of Public Health announced 13 hospitalized persons; one person was found dead. Hundreds of houses were flooded.

To protect the Imereti Lowland, the territorial administration has offered to restore the upland channel in the Adler District of Sochi, to rebuild drainage pipes, and build pumping stations in canals. New protection against rain water will be erected around the settlement of Mirny and State Farm "Rossiya", says the message posted on the website of the Krasnodar Territory on August 31.

The protection project of the Imereti Lowland is designed by a Saint-Petersburg group of scientists, who are helped by an initiative group of local residents. In the vicinity of the Olympic Park, the construction headquarters of the new system will be opened; and anyone will be welcomed to come and make suggestions, says the message.

Let us remind you that after the flooding on June 25, residents of Sochi declared insufficient help from the authorities in the elimination of consequences of the natural disaster, and that no warning was made about the flooding.
