North Ossetia introduces increased security measures on the eve of anniversary of Beslan terror act

North Ossetia is completing preparations for the Memory Watch dated to the 11th anniversary of the terror act in Beslan School No. 1.

On September 1, 2004, militants took 1128 hostages at Beslan School. The rescue operation ended on September 3, 2004. The storming killed 334 people, 186 of whom were children.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the press service of the head and government of North Ossetia that the mourning events will begin on August 31, when in central Beslan a bronze bust to Zaur Djibilov, a policeman, who perished on his post in autumn 2012, will be opened.

On September 1, in the destroyed School No. 1, at 9:15 a.m. Moscow time – exactly when 11 years ago terrorists broke into a festive line-up and captured all those present there as hostages, a school bell will ring.

During three days of Memory Watch, candles will be lit in the school yard; and a large screen will show photos and videos, as well as films about the eleven-year-old events.

Starting August 26, the police of North Ossetia are at strengthened mode of service. The republic's MIA said that all the educational establishments will be examined with the help of dog handlers for a possible presence of explosives and bombs; they will be under the round-the-clock guard.
