Suspected militant killed in Dagestan

A suspected member of the armed underground was shot dead as a result of an armed clash in the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan. The killed man is preliminary identified as Islam Muradov.

On August 24, a suspected militant entered a shootout with policemen between the villages of Mutsalaul and Genzheaul. The unidentified man opened fire on the policemen and was killed by return fire. He has been preliminary identified as Islam Muradov, who was on the federal wanted list in the case of the organization of an illegal armed formation (IAF) or involvement in it, the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The policemen found a pistol near the killed man. No power agent suffered in the shootout, the "TASS" reports with reference to a source in the law enforcement bodies of Dagestan.

According to the source in the law enforcement bodies, Islam Muradov was an active member of the "Khasavyurt" terrorist grouping. He was well-known for repeatedly escaping from the places of special operations, the "Interfax" reports.
