Advocates in Nemtsov's murder case to challenge arrest extension
Advocates of Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, Shagid Gubashev, and Khamzat Bakhaev, accused in the case of the murder of politician Boris Nemtsov, report on their intention to appeal against the resolution of the Basmanny District Court of Moscow to extend the period of their clients' detention.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 24, at the request of investigators, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow extended the period of arrest of Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, Shagid Gubashev, and Khamzat Bakhaev until November 28.
Roza Magomedova, an advocate of Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, has called the decision pronounced by the Basmanny District Court of Moscow "illegal and unjustified". She has added that the Court's decision will be challenged at a higher authority. Defenders of the other defendants have also announced their intention to appeal against the Court's decision; however, they have also noted that the final decision will be made after the talks with the defendants.
Magomed Khadisov, an advocate of Shagid Gubashev, has also stated that his client's guilt is not proved. The advocate has asked the Court to elect a pre-trial restriction measure to his client, not connected with deprivation of liberty.
Zaurbek Sadakhanov, one more defender, has said that Khamzat Bakhaev is being kept in SIZO (pre-trial prison) groundlessly and without any evidence. The advocate has also referred to the presumption of innocence.
