Kumyks to run for chair of Dagestani People's Assembly

The information about the resignation of Khizri Shikhsaidov, the Speaker of the People's Assembly of Dagestan, is still premature; however, it can happen soon. In that case, the influential Kumyk clans are likely to run for the post of the Speaker. This opinion has been expressed by the experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".

The situation with the criminal proceedings against Daniyal Shikhsaidov, a son of Khizri Shikhsaidov, has contributed to the spread of the rumours about the Khizri Shikhsaidov's early resignation on the background of his isolation from the public and the media. This was stated by Magomed Magomedov, a special correspondent of the Dagestani newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft).

According to the journalist, the Speaker of the People's Assembly of Dagestan spends his holidays to resolve the situation with the prosecution of his son, which will affect the further political fate of Khizri Shikhsaidov himself.

Lawyer Rasul Kadiev believes the question of the resignation of Khizri Shikhsaidov in a political one.
