Pickets in support of Imam Chumakov held in Ingushetia and Dagestan

Supporters of Imam Khamzat Chumakov held solo pickets in Ingushetia and Dagestan to express their support to him and oppose publications, aimed at incitement of hatred against Muslims.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 4 in the Ingush village of Nasyr-Kort, during a conflict of believers, spontaneous automatic fire was opened. Supporters and opponents of Khamzat Chumakov, Imam of the local mosque, then spoke in favour of peaceful resolution of the conflict.

On August 7, Gasan Gadjiev, the head of the mobile group of the public movement "For Muslims' Rights", held a solo picket in Makhachkala near the building of the Russian Drama Theatre in support of Muslims of Ingushetia and Imam Khamzat Chumakov.

According to his story, after the conflict of believers was exhausted, some journalists interpreted the situation in their own way, thus trying to kindle a new conflict among Muslims of Ingushetia.

In Ingushetia, actions in support of Imam Chumakov were held on August 6 and 7 in many dwelling settlements and towns of the republic, one of solo picketers, who introduced himself as Abdul, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"We're against the destabilization of the situation in the republic; we're against the pressure on the Muslim community and illiterate provocative journalists' publications, who know nothing about the real situation," said Abdul.
