On July 20-26, at least six persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week from July 20 to July, 2015, at least six people were killed in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

All the casualties are the persons, who, according to law enforcers had been involved in the activities of the armed underground in Kabardino-Balkaria.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On July 23, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in a part of the territory of Nalchik, within Lenin Avenue and Kuashev, Rybalko, Schors, Kabardinskaya and Tolstoy Streets. Several alleged members of the armed underground were blocked in an apartment in the building in Shogentsukov Street. In the sixth or seventh level thereof, a shootout broke out, after which power agents evacuated the tenants of the building. Relatives of the blocked persons were invited and tried to persuade them to surrender, but the alleged militants resisted and tried to escape through a manhole made in the floor. According to the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), during the CTO six militants were killed, and a large laboratory for making improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The six casualties of the CTO were later identified as Sultan Abshaev, Marat Dotkulov, Amir Kazberigev, Murat and Aslan Bogotov, and Murat Misrokov, the owner of the locked apartment, who was a doctor at a Nalchik hospital.

Detentions

Law enforcers detained a resident of Dagestan, in whose house they found firearms and ammunition, namely: an RGD-5 grenade and 31 rounds of 7.62 mm calibre. A criminal case on illegal circulation of firearms and ammunition was opened against the house owner; he was detained. On July 20, he was arrested and put in custody.

On July 20, the village of Gotsatl, Khunzakh District of Dagestan, was visited by armed men in uniform, who searched the house of Magomed Gadjimagomedov, who had been declared wanted on suspicion of involvement in an illegal armed formation (IAF) and the murder of a local resident Omar Anasov. Power agents detained Sayat Gadjimagomedova, the wife of the suspected militant, and brought her to the Khunzakh ROVD (District Interior Division). A few hours later, she was released.
