KBR establishes post of minister for prevention of extremism among youth
Yuri Kokov, the head of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has set up a new agency in charge of crime prevention among young people. In his opinion, it should prevent the spread of radical ideas.
On July 27, at a meeting with members of republic's government and heads of municipalities, Mr Kokov stressed the need to strengthen measures aimed to reduce terrorist threats, saying that he had decided to create a new minister post "for the implementation of the state policy in the field of preventing offences and destructive manifestations among the youth."
According to the head of the KBR, the actions taken by the government in this direction have a positive impact on the security in the region, the RIA "Kabardino-Balkaria" reports.
In April-June this year, armed confrontations that occurred in the KBR claimed seven human lives. Three persons were killed in April and four – in June. In Quarter I, two persons were killed. In total, in Quarter II of 2015, 44 people fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus; of them, according to law enforcers, 33 people had been involved in activities of illegal armed formations (IAFs).
