Movement "No to robbery!" rallies against Yerevan Police

Today, activists of the movement "No to robbery!" that is fighting against the increase of electricity tariff, have held a one-day action, during which they hang up photos of the law enforcers who were involved at night on June 23 in dispersing demonstrators. Rimma Sargsyan, a member of the group, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that policemen followed activists and tore off the photos.

"They were just photos; there was nothing offensive in them; thus, we were not breaking the law," said Sargsyan.

She added that a similar action was carried out against protesters immediately after the march to the building of the General Prosecutor's Office that took place on July 14. According to her story, photos of some activists with insulting inscriptions appeared in the districts, where they live.

"At this stage, the initiative group 'No to robbery!' is holding no active operations, but develops its next steps. The group is against robbery, not only in the sphere of the electric power, but also in any other sphere," said Rimma Sargsyan, adding that the activists will fight against all iniquity.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that mass protests began in Armenia on June 19, after the decision was made to increase the electricity tariff. At night on June 23, the police squeezed the protesters from Bagramyan Avenue in Yerevan. Activists reported 25 victims of the dispersal.
