Dagestan: advocate states non-admittance to detainee

Today, advocate Selim Magomedov has complained that Makhachkala policemen have exceeded their powers, when he tried to meet his client.

According to Magomedov, his client Arslanali Djalalov born in 1974, was detained in Makhachkala in Ordjonikidze Street on July 7.

Today, the advocate tried to visit his client, who is kept in a city ROVD (District Interior Division).

"Despite the fact that the on duty unit continued denying his detention, they took a parcel from the wife of Arslanali Djalalov. I understood that he is kept at the ROVD. I went there, saying that I was going to the office. I knew approximately, where they can keep him; and I went there. Arslanali indeed was there. Before the staff saw me, I managed to talk to him briefly. He said that he had been beaten and that a grenade launcher was planted on him during detention. It was seen that he was beaten," said the advocate.

According to Selim Magomedov, then, the investigator and other employees of the ROVD saw him. "They tied up my hands, dragged me to the door and literally pushed me out of the ROVD. I'm sure they will force Djalalov to reject my services," said the advocate, insisting that policemen have exceeded their official powers.

The spokesman of the above ROVD of Makhachkala told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that Arslanali Djalalov was not brought there; and the information about an incident involving the advocate Selim Magomedov has nothing to do with reality.
