In Yerevan, protester sews his mouth up

In Freedom Square in Yerevan, one of the participants of the protest action against the increase of the electricity tariff has sewed his mouth up in protest against the lawlessness in the country.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Armenia, people hold mass protests starting from June 19, after the decision had been made to increase the electricity tariff. The largest round-the-clock protest action took place in Bagramyan Avenue in Yerevan; however, on July 6, the police dispersed the protesters. On the same day, a new rally was started in Freedom Square, but the police did not allow the protesters to march through the city centre.

Oganes, a middle-aged protester, sewed his mouth up. The protesters chose such an extreme measure to draw attention to the lawlessness in the country. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by David Sanasaryan, one of the coordinators of the protest action.

In the evening of July 6, David Sanasaryan himself declared a hunger strike and called on Armenian citizens to unite in the struggle against the increase in the electricity tariff.
