Co-Chair of Russia's Council of Muftis stands up for Makhachkala mosque
The pressure on the congregation of the mosque located in Hungarian Warriors Street in Makhachkala should be stopped, said Nafigullah Ashirov, the Mufti of the Asian part of Russia and Co-Chair of the Council of Muftis of Russia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that earlier the well-known Salafi preacher Nadir Abu Khalid was serving at the above mosque in Makhachkala; however, on May 23, evidence appeared on the Internet of him giving oath to the leader of the "Islamic State" (IS) (declared a terrorist organization in Russia, USA, Turkey and some other countries).
On April 17, the Sovietskiy District Court of Makhachkala put under house arrest Ibodullo Nabotov, an employee of the above mosque on suspicion of possessing a grenade and narcotic drugs.
The case against Nabotov was fabricated, the leadership of the mosque, where he worked, has claimed.
Magomed Magomedov, a source from the mosque, said that the mosque leaders were under pressure, received threats and demands to close the mosque.
According to the source, one of the possible causes of the pressure was in the fact that Nadir Abu Khalid (Nadir Medetov) earlier preached there. However, before his detention and departure to the Middle East, Nadir Abu Khalid "no longer had any relation to the mosque, because he did not work there," said the source.
