Consideration of complaint against termination of case about beating Sapiyat Magomedova postponed until June 26
The court in Makhachkala, which is considering the complaint lodged by the lawyer Sapiyat Magomedova against investigators' decision to stop the inquiry into her beating up in 2010, has requested the case materials from the investigators. The next court session is scheduled for June 26.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported, referring to Magomedova, who is a participant of many resonant trials in Dagestan, that on June 17, 2010, she was beaten up by policemen in Khasavyurt. However, the latter claimed that the woman herself attacked them. Criminal cases were initiated by both parties; then combined into one case, and eventually stopped.
In April 2014, the Supreme Court of Dagestan ruled to reopen the inquiry; on December 19, 2014, it was reopened, but on December 30 the investigator decided to stop the case. On June 8 this year, Magomedova went to the court against this decision.
On June 19, the Sovietsliy District Court of Makhachkala began considering the Sapiyat's complaint. According to her story, at the trial the judge asked the investigator to present the criminal case files. The court also raised the issue of the origin of Magomedova's bodily injuries after her beating up in 2010.
Let us remind you that in 2011 Sapiyat Magomedova filed a complaint to the ECtHR about the protraction by law enforcement bodies of the inquiry into her beating.
