"Kommersant": investigators refuse to institute criminal case on use of illegal actions against Zaur Dadaev
The investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has checked the complaint filed by Zaur Dadaev, a defendant in the case of the Boris Nemtsov's murder, about the use of illegal actions against him. The ICRF has refused to institute a criminal case on the complaint. Thus, the primary confession made by Zaur Dadaev has been recognized as legitimate, despite the fact that Zaur Dadaev himself later retracted it, the "Kommersant" reports today.
Boris Nemtsov was killed in Moscow on February 27. Five persons, including Zaur Dadaev, Anzor and Shagid Gubashev, Khamzat Bakhaev and Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, were detained on suspicion of involvement in the murder and put under arrest.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 1, Zaur Dadaev retracted his initial confession and claimed that he had given it to investigators under pressure.
Yesterday, Zaur Dadaev, who is being kept at the "Lefortovo" SIZO (pre-trial prison), has been handed over a copy of the resolution issued by Alexei Stadnikov, an investigator of the Chief Investigating Department (CID) of the ICRF. According to the resolution, the investigators found no grounds to initiate criminal proceedings on the fact of psychological pressure or physical violence allegedly imposed on Zaur Dadaev, the "Kommersant" reports with reference to a source close to the investigation.
According to Shamsudin Tsakaev, an advocate of Zaur Dadaev, the ICRF has carried out just a formal check of the complaint filed by his client. The advocate has noted that he plans to challenge the results of the check in the nearest future.
