"Kommersant": in case of Boris Nemtsov's murder, investigators search for unidentified witnesses to crime

In Moscow, two women, who were at the place of the Boris Nemtsov's murder, could witness the crime. Investigators and an advocate of one of the defendants are engaged in the search for the possible witnesses, the "Kommersant" reports today.

Boris Nemtsov was killed in Moscow on February 27. Five persons, including Zaur Dadaev, Anzor and Shagid Gubashev, Khamzat Bakhaev and Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, were detained on suspicion of involvement in the murder and put under arrest.

The possible witnesses were reported in the early days of the investigation thanks to the testimony given by witness Evgeny, a manager of a company, who appeared to follow the politician and his companion in that very evening. According to Evgeny, the two women were standing not far from  Boris Nemtsov, when he fell on the pavement, and then they left the bridge "with quick steps" and walked down the stairs leading to the embankment.

The investigators suggested that the women were employees of operative and search units and were engaged in secret surveillance of opposition leader Boris Nemtsov, and thus the investigators sent appropriate requests to the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). However, according to the received replies, on February 27, no secret surveillance of Boris Nemtsov was carried out, the newspaper "Kommersant" reports today with reference to its sources.

According to the "Kommersant", Roza Magomedova, an advocate of Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, involved in the case as a defendant, is also interested in finding those possible witnesses to the crime.

"We believe that the investigators should identify all the women, who were not far from Boris Nemtsov shortly before and immediately after his death. It is necessary to understand whether they appeared there by chance or not," advocate Roza Magomedova has stated.
