Petition on court disqualification in Amirov's case rejected

A session of the North-Caucasian District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don, which is considering the case of ex-Mayor of Makhachkala Said Amirov, has been postponed until May 21. The petition of his advocate Lukyan Khasabyan to challenge the membership of the court was rejected.

The North-Caucasian District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don is considering the case Said Amirov, ex-Mayor of Makhachkala, his nephew Yusup Djaparov and six other defendants, accused of organizing the murder of the investigator Arsen Gadjibekov, participation in an illegal armed formation (IAF), banditry, terrorism and illegal arms circulation. Earlier Amirov had been already sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges of plotting a terror act. Djaparov was sentenced to 8.5 years in prison under the same case.

"A challenge to the members of the court was declared, because, in the opinion of the defence, the court took the side of the public prosecution and supports the prosecutor's position; however, the challenge was rejected," the "NewsTracker" quotes Alyona Katskalo, the press secretary of the North-Caucasian District Military Court, as saying.

Tomorrow, the court plans to question, in the video conferencing mode, Abdulgalimov, the main witness for the prosecution.

Let us remind you that at the yesterday's session, the court questioned, also by means of a videoconference, the victim Ruslan Gajibekov, the elder brother of the assassinated investigator Arsen Gadjibekov.
