Alibek Delimkhanov, commander of Chechen battalion "Sever", gets promotion

Alibek Delimkhanov, the commander of the 141st motorized regiment of internal troops of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) (the former special forces battalion "Sever" (North)) deployed in Chechnya, has been promoted to a new position. He has been appointed the deputy commander of the 46th separate operative brigade of internal troops.

It should be noted that the media attention was attracted to Alibek Delimkhanov in connection with the investigation into the murder of opposition politician Boris Nemtsov in Moscow.

Boris Nemtsov was killed in Moscow on February 27. Five persons, including Zaur Dadaev, Anzor and Shagid Gubashev, Khamzat Bakhaev and Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, were detained on suspicion of involvement in the murder and put under arrest.

According to the "Rosbalt", Alibek Delimkhanov was questioned in Chechnya as a witness in the case. Earlier, Zaur Dadaev, Ruslan Geremeev, and Beslan Shavanov, who have been involved in the investigation and mentioned by the media, used to serve at the special unit under the command of Alibek Delimkhanov.

Zaur Dadaev is the main suspect in the case. According to investigators, he opened fire on Boris Nemtsov. At present, Zaur Dadaev is being kept in custody, and he pleads not guilty. On April 24, it was reported that law enforcers were looking for Ruslan Geremeev and checking him for his involvement in the murder of Boris Nemtsov. According to the "Interfax", Ruslan Geremeev got a status of a suspect. According to law enforcers, Beslan Shavanov blew himself up during his detention in Grozny on March 7. Even before the announcement of his identification, the "Interfax" reported with reference to a source in the law enforcement bodies that the suicide bombing had been committed by a man suspected of the murder of Boris Nemtsov. However, the information has not yet been officially confirmed by the law enforcement bodies.
