In Rostov-on-Don, Court dismisses motion for same cell for Said Amirov and his nephew

Today, in the course of the trial started at the North-Caucasian District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don in the case against Said Amirov, the defence has filed a motion for the permit to keep the former Mayor of Makhachkala and his nephew in the same cell. However, the Court has dismissed the motion.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Said Amirov, who has been already sentenced on charge of plotting a terror act to 10 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony, and seven other defendants in the case are accused of organization of the murder of the investigator in Dagestan, involvement in an illegal armed formation (IAF), banditry, terrorism, and arms trafficking. According to the advocate of Said Amirov, the defence is preparing a series of motions, which will be based on the declaration of innocence of the client.

Before the trial, the defence has filed a motion to permit the same cell for Said Amirov and his nephew Yusup Djaparov.

The judge has referred to the law prohibiting detention of defendants in the case in the same cell and dismissed the motion, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

According to Vladimir Postanyuk, the advocate of the former Mayor of Makhachkala, "his client insists that the trial should be as open as possible, so that people can make sure the case has been fabricated."
