In Makhachkala, more than 9000 people take part in "Parade of Victory Heirs"
On May 9, Makhachkala hosted a festive parade dedicated to the Victory Day on the 70th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War. The parade was watched by veterans, soldiers, pupils of cadet classes, and residents of the capital of Dagestan, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
On the eve of May 7, the central square of Makhachkala hosted the "Parade of Victory Heirs", the republican parade of children and youth organizations. It was attended by more than 9000 people, the RIA "Dagestan" reports.
Participants of the action were holding in their hands posters and photographs of soldiers who participated in the Great Patriotic War. They walked down to the memorial of Eternal Flame, where they laid wreaths. A soldier field kitchen worked in the park near the central square of Makhachkala, and everyone had a chance to taste front-line food.
In Derbent, the memorial "Grieving Mother" was opened after reconstruction. The opening ceremony was attended by the city authorities and several hundred residents of Derbent.
It should be noted that Dagestan has enhanced security measures for the period of celebrations. On the eve of the holiday, the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has issued a warning that security forces would carefully examine all citizens using military working dogs and metal detectors. Besides, the traffic in the central part of Makhachkala was restricted.
