On April 13-19, at least 8 people fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of April 13-19, 2015, at least 8 people were killed in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. No wounded were reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

All the killed persons were suspected members of the armed underground. Of them, five were killed in Dagestan, and three in Kabardino-Balkaria.

Special and counterterrorist operations

Starting from 11:30 a.m. Moscow time of April 13, the legal regime of counterterrorist operation (CTO) in force in the Untsukul, Gergebil, and Buynaksk Districts of Dagestan was cancelled.

On April 14, a CTO regime was introduced in the territory of gardening association "Domostroitel" at the outskirts of Nalchik. An identified person opened fire on power agents from one of the suburban houses. As a result, the unidentified attacker was killed. No local residents and power agents fell victims to the incident. The killed man was preliminary identified as Atmir Kerefov, born in 1976. According to power agents, he organized a channel to deliver weapons to member of illegal armed formations.

On April 15, the CTO regime was introduced at the centre of the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria. During the special operation, two suspected militants, who rendered armed resistance, were killed in a blocked apartment of a multi-storied building. According to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), one of the killed persons was identified as Zaur Prokopchuk, born in 1988, a member of an IAF.

On April 19, the CTO regime was introduced in Buynaksk. Power agents blocked a house with militants in the village in Gerei-Avlak on the outskirts of Buynaksk. As a result of negotiations, children were let out of the house. However, the militants refused to surrender and opened fire. According to the NAC, five persons were killed during the special operation, including Aliaskhab Kebekov, the leader of the terrorist organization "Imarat Kavkaz", Shamil Gasanov, the Amir of the militants of the Untsukul District of Dagestan, and Omar Magomedov, the militant leader of the so-called central sector of the armed underground acting in Dagestan. Besides, two killed women were identified as Zokhra Abdulaeva and Djamilya Magomedkhanova.

Detentions

On April 13, in the Prigorodny District of North Ossetia, FSB agents detained a resident of Ingushetia and a citizen of Georgia suspected of selling arms and ammunition to North Ossetia. Besides, the police revealed a channel of arms traffic to North Ossetia from Ingushetia. A person suspected of arms traffic was detained. In the course of the search of his house and yard, the police found a pistol and 11 rounds of ammunition.

On April 14, in Makhachkala, power agents detained Ibodullo Nabotov, who worked as a budun (employee calling for prayer) at the mosque located in Hungarian Soldiers Street. The mosque is considered as Salafi, and mosque-goers are often detained there. Ibodullo Nabotov is suspected of possessing a grenade and narcotic substances. On April 17, the court placed Ibodullo Nabotov under house arrest for two months. On April 18, the Soviet District Court of Makhachkala placed under house arrest Ibodullo Nabotov, a budun of one of the mosques in the capital of Dagestan.

Relatives of Akhmed Kamilov, a 31-year-old native of the Untsukul District of Dagestan, reported that on April 15, he was kidnapped in the centre of Makhachkala. According to his relatives, Akhmed Kamilov was seized by four men, who forced him into a car and drove him away to some unknown destination. In the evening of April 16, Akhmed Kamilov was released. According to his relatives, Akhmed Kamilov had been detained by law enforcers, and no pressure or torture had been used against him.
