Armenian experts claim need to strengthen work on recognition of Armenian Genocide by Turkey

For Armenia, the recognition of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915 by Turkey remains an important issue on the agenda. According to Armenian experts, the question of the compensation claims against the Turkish side has not yet been included in the agenda and requires nationwide discussions within the country.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the year of 2015 marks the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire of 1915-1923. The Armenian Genocide has been recognized by more than 20 states.

Armenia will be grateful to all the countries, which will join the process of recognition of the Armenian Genocide. However, after 2015, the recognition of the fact of the Armenian Genocide by Turkey will be important for all people, and it "will inevitably take place, by one way or another." This was stated by political scientist Sergey Minasyan, the Deputy Director of the Caucasus Institute.

For Armenia, it is important that after April 24, the Armenian Genocide recognition process will enter another political and international legal aspect. According to Sergey Minasyan, first of all, the Armenian side should choose the format and approach to the above process, and such a choice is to become the subject of extensive discussions in political and social circles and in communities of Armenian Diasporas.

The day of April 24 has been declared the Day of Remembrance of Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915. The appropriate decision on the memorial date was made at the Brussels session of the European Parliament on April 15. The European Parliament called on Ankara to recognize the Armenian Genocide.

According to the Armenian side, on April 24, the Presidents of Russia, France, Serbia, and Cyprus will visit Armenia to attend the mourning ceremonies of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
