Defence declares Eskerkhanov's consent to pass polygraph test

The defence of Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, who is accused of participating in the murder of Boris Nemtsov, has announced its intention to apply for a polygraph test of its client. Advocates of other defendants – Gubashev brothers and Khamzat Bakhaev – also do not exclude the possibility of applying the lie detector test to their clients.

Boris Nemtsov was shot and killed in Moscow on February 27. Five persons, including Zaur Dadaev, Anzor and Shagid Gubashev, Khamzat Bakhaev and Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, were detained on suspicion of involvement in the murder and put under arrest.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Zaur Dadaev, one of the figurants in the case, already expressed his intention to pass a lie detector test in order to prove his innocence. This was reported by the Kommersant newspaper today with reference to Shamsudin Tsakaev, Dadaev's advocate.

Today, Roza Magomedova, the defender of Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, said that she will apply for her client's lie-detector test, although doubting that investigators would use the data thereof.

If the polygraph gives a negative result, investigators will use it. "And if the results are in our favour, they usually refuse to use them," said Roza Magomedova as quoted by the Interfax.
