Trial in Valery Permyakov's case to be held at Gyumri military base

The case against Valery Permyakov will be considered by a military tribunal in the territory of the Russian military base in Gyumri. This was reported by Leonid Slutsky, the head of the delegation of the Russian State Duma.

On January 12, in Gyumri, six members of the Avetisyan family were assassinated. The only survivor of the attack – the six-month-old Sergey Avetisyan – was hospitalized in critical condition and on January 19, he died. A Russian regular soldier Valery Permyakov was arrested as a suspect of committing the massacre. He is kept under reinforced guard in the territory of the 102^nd Russian military base. According to the Investigating Committee (IC) of Armenia, Permyakov officially admitted the charges against him.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 19, Alexander Bastrykin, the Chief of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), promised that the trial in the case of the murder of a family in Gyumri would be held public in Armenia; however, it would be held by the Russian military court.

Today, Leonid Slutsky, who visits Armenia, has found it difficult to answer the question of whether the trial in the case against Valery Permyakov will be public or whether it will be held behind closed doors.

Meanwhile, Leonid Slutsky has confirmed that the process will be carried out in the territory of the Russian military base. He has also expressed his confidence that the investigation will be completed "in the coming weeks." "The military tribunal will be held in the territory of the 102^nd military base," the "Interfax" quotes Leonid Slutsky as stating.
