Rostov political strategists expect verdict of guilty in MP Bessonov's case

In Rostov-on-Don, local political strategists do not expect verdict of acquittal in the case against Vladimir Bessonov, a deputy of the State Duma, which is under the consideration at the local court. According to Vladislav Volkov, involvement of law enforcers will be one of the reasons for the verdict of guilty. Sergey Smirnov believes that the possible outcome of the case will be conditional imprisonment of the defendant.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 28, the State Duma agreed to bring to the court the case against communist Bessonov, accused of using violence against policemen. According to investigators, on December 2, 2011, during an unsanctioned rally in Rostov-on-Don, Bessonov together with other protesters struck and injured policemen and damaged their uniforms. The MP pleaded not guilty.

"Vladimir and Evgeny, Bessonov's brothers, are the most active members of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) in the Rostov Region. They always used to be thorn in the flesh for the regional authorities. However, I do not think that was the reason for institution of a criminal case against Vladimir Bessonov," Vladislav Volkov, the Director of the Rostov news agency "DonInformByuro".

According to Vladislav Volkov, in this case, an important role was played by a factor of discontent expressed by the office of the Russian President's envoy to the Southern Federal District (SFD), since the unsanctioned rally was held not far from its building.
