Ingush leader urges persons appealing to Adaptation Commission tell the truth

On air of the TV programme "Dialogue with People", Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov has recommended persons, who have decided to stop their extremist activities, to report to the authorities the full details of their activities for an objective examination of their situation when applying to the Adaptation Commission of militants.

One of the viewers of the TV programme has asked a question concerning the activity of the Adaptation Commission. "In Ingushetia, Aldiev was amnestied, and then, in Chechnya, he was sentenced for 13 years of imprisonment. Can people then trust the Adaptation Commission and the guarantees it gives?" the man asked the Ingush leader.

Khamzat Aldiev, according to his family members, joined militants in September 2011, and on June 29, 2013, he surrendered under the guarantees of the republic's authorities. However, he was later charged with attack on law enforcers committed in the Achkhoi-Martan District of Chechnya on August 10, 2012. The Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya sentenced Khamzat Aldiev to 13 years of imprisonment. According to Albert Barakhaev, the Acting Secretary of the Ingush Security Council, Khamzat Aldiev concealed the information about his activities in the ranks of the militants.

Yunus-Bek Evkurov has explained the principle of the activity of the Adaptation Commission. According to the Ingush leader, relatives of a person who wants to return to civilian life come to the Commission and report his will.

According to Yunus-Bek Evkurov, the authorities inform relatives of a person who wants to return to civilian life whether the law enforcement agencies have the information about that person.

As far as Khamzat Aldiev is concerned, then, according to the Ingush leader, the man was to "play by the rules": to adhere to the conditions of the agreement and to tell the law enforcers everything about himself, like the persons who had surrendered earlier.
