Results of examinations in case of family massacre in Gyumri announced

Today, Lusine Sahakyan, Erem Sarkisyan and Ervand Varosyan, the advocates of the successors of the Avetisyan family, assassinated in Gyumri, have presented the results of the examinations, carried out within the inquiry into the case.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 12, in Gyumri, six members of the Avetisyan family were assassinated. The only survivor of the attack – the six-month-old Sergey Avetisyan – was hospitalized in critical condition and on January 19, he died. A Russian regular soldier Valery Permyakov was arrested as a suspect of committing the massacre. He is kept under reinforced guard in the territory of the 102nd Russian military base. According to the Investigating Committee (IC) of Armenia, Permyakov officially admitted the charges against him.

According to advocates’ story, the forensic biological examination showed that the traces of sweat on the military uniform and shoes detected at the scene of the crime and the assays taken from Permyakov belong to the same blood group, the "Lragir.am" reports.

During the forensic examination it was also proved that the traces of blood found on the knife-bayonet of the killer's Kalashnikov belonged to Sergey Avetisyan, the youngest family member.

"Now, we are also making efforts to do everything possible to force the Russian party to show the mobile phones found on Valery Permyakov to relatives of the Avetisyan family, so that relatives could confirm that the phones had been owned by family members," said Sarkisyan.

"As of today, we can state that 28 shell casings were found in the Avetisyans' house. It means that at least the same number of shots was made; and they were made from one and the same submachine gun that belonged to Permyakov and was found at the scene. So far, there are no grounds to assume that Permyakov was not present at the murder scene, or to believe that someone brought his clothes there," said Ervand Varosyan, adding that answers to the remaining questions should be expected as a result of the genetic examination.
