Transparency International: Chechen MPs violate anti-corruption laws

None of MPs of the Chechen Parliament has published his/her tax declaration for 2013. This was reported by the Centre of Anti-Corruption Research and Initiatives "Transparency International-Russia". In addition to Chechnya, the "Transparency International" (TI) found no declarations of a number of members of regional parliaments of 44 subjects of the Russian Federation, including Krasnodar Territory, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, Adygea, Kalmykia, Astrakhan, and Volgograd Regions. In total, declarations of 652 MPs were not found.

In this regard, the organization has filed a complaint to the General Prosecutor's Office, asking to carry out an inspection in connection with possible violations of anti-corruption laws.

The statement "Report on the monitoring of the availability of data on incomes, expenditures and assets of deputies of representative bodies of subjects of the Russian Federation for 2013" was published on the website of the TI on March 18.

"The requirement to publish declarations was introduced by a number of federal laws and presidential decrees. The deadline for mandatory disclosure of the data has expired 11 months ago," the report's authors emphasize.

Chairman of the Parliament of Chechnya Dukuvakha Abdurakhmanov in his comments to the ‘Caucasian Knot’ correspondent explained the lack of his declaration by the fact that all his property was destroyed during Chechen warfare. ‘When Yeltsin and Grachev started war in Chechnya, I had in my possession one bank, 14 houses, 11 apartments, a farm, a lot of transport vehicles – and all of it was destroyed. As soon as I regain all this I’ll answer your questions’, says Dukuvakha Abdurakhmanov.
