Dadaev's aunt was claimant in kidnapping case in Chechnya
The applicant in the case "Dadaeva at al vs. Russia" was the aunt (mother's sister) mother of Zaur Dadaev, now accused in killing Boris Nemtsov, the newspaper "Kommersant" reports. This information is in line with earlier materials of the "Caucasian Knot" about the case won by Dadaev and Shavanov families at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in January 2015 the families of Dadaev and Shavanov adjudged 120,000 euros from the Russian authorities at the ECtHR for violation of Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) (the right to life).
In their complaint, the families reported the kidnapping by power agents in 2001 of Aslambek and Mairbek Shavanov. The applicant was Larissa Dadaeva, the mother's sister of Zaur Dadaev. According to her story, power agents had kidnapped her husband Mairbek Shavanov and his brother Aslambek Shavanov.
Currently, Larissa Dadaeva lives in Belgium. "If the Dadaev and Shavanov families had any reason to take revenge on someone, these would be not oppositionists, but power agents and law enforcers," the "Kommersant" writes.
The information about the disappearance of Mairbek and Aslambek Shavanov can be found in the materials and the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial". According to the data of the HRC, although power structures had officially denied any involvement in the detention of the Shavanov brothers, unofficially, the military commander of the Urus-Martan District admitted that after detention the brothers were taken to the district division of the FSB.
