Gasparyan family urges parties of Karabakh conflict to exchange lists of missing persons

In the NKR, the family Rubik Gasparyan, who went missing in the conflict zone 22 years ago, has called on the authorities of Armenia and Azerbaijan to exchange complete lists of missing persons.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 4 Sarah Eppreht, the head of the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Armenia, stated that one of the priorities of the ICRC is to clear out the fates of about 4500 persons, considered missing as a result of the Karabakh conflict. The Armenian MoD has announced its readiness to cooperate, under the auspices of the ICRC, with the Azerbaijani party in the issue of data exchange on missing people.

The Gasparyan family hopes for return of Rubik Gasparyan, a husband and a father of four daughters, who was born in 1937 and disappeared in November 1993 in the vicinity of Fizuli, told his wife Nina Gasparyan.

His daughter Firuza Gasparyan said that after Rubik's disappearance there were several episodes, confirming that he was alive. Thus, almost a month after the disappearance, her father was shown on Azerbaijani television.

"We have information that he is held hostage by private persons," she added.

Firuza Gasparyan, who is also an activist of the NGO of relatives of the persons, who went missing in the Gadrut District of the NKR, said that the NKR's list of missing persons contains more than 700 people.
