Advocate of Kislovodsk Imam writes novel about prosecution of his client

A documentary novel based on the events of the prosecution and trial in the case against Kislovodsk Imam Kurman-Ali Baichorov charged with drug possession will be published in Moscow. This was reported by the author of the novel, advocate Alaudi Musaev.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 12, Kurman-Ali Baichorov was sentenced to 3.5 years of imprisonment in a common-security penal colony and a fine of 50,000 roubles on charges of drug trafficking. The defence has appealed against the sentence. Supporters of the religious leader treat the verdict of guilty as a provocation and associate it with the Imam's strict position on mosques in Kislovodsk, where the authorities have banned their construction.

The trial in the case against the Imam has become the basis for the novel "The Trial in a Dream" and for the doctoral study "Procedural terrorism is a threat to Russia's national security." This was stated by Professor Alaudi Musaev, Doctor of Law, the advocate of the religious leader, the member of the Union of Russian Writers, and the scientific supervisor of the doctoral study.

Alaudi Musaev has reported that "the manuscript of the novel is ready, and it includes 457 pages of text." The author has noted that the planned size of edition is to be 50,000 copies and that in the near future, the manuscript will be sent for publication. Alaudi Musaev has added that the book is compiled after the materials of the trial and based on the minutes of the court hearings.
