Volgograd parents with many children intend to go on hunger strike in governor's waiting room
Members of four large families of Volgograd have announced their intention to start – on March 1 – a three-month-long hunger strike right in the reception office of the regional governor.
The organizers of the action plan to stay in the governor's office on duty one by one and hold their hunger strike until June 1 – the International Children's Day.
Their main demand to the authorities is to address the problems of large families in the housing sphere. Parents with many children believe that they should have a chance granted by the law to receive an apartment instead of a land plot.
According to the organizers of the hunger strike, they have repeatedly sought an appointment with Andrei Bocharov, the Governor of the Volgograd Region, but without success, the News Agency "City of Heroes" reports.
Should the regional authorities fail to take measures to address the issue, since June 1 parents with many children plan to continue their hunger strike in Moscow, the News Agency "Volgograd News" reports.
