Ingush Prosecutor's Office starts verifying complaint about torture of Khadishat Albakova

In Ingushetia, the Prosecutor's Office has started verifying the complaint filed by human rights defender Magomed Mutsolgov, who asked to check the information about torture of Khadishat Albakova, a local resident.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in his blog, Magomed Mutsolgov, the head of the human rights organization "MASHR", the head of the Ingush Public Monitoring Commission (PMC), reported that on February 6, 2015, the human rights organization received a complaint from Kheda Albakova, in which the woman complained about the fact that law enforcers subjected her sister Khadishat to physical violence and torture. Magomed Mutsolgov appealed to the Prosecutor of Ingushetia and asked him to check the information.

The Ingush Prosecutor's Office has started to check the materials set forth in the appeal. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Zalina Katieva, an official of the Ingush Prosecutor's Office.

Under the law, the appeal is to be considered within a month. "However, it is most likely that the investigation will be completed earlier," Zalina Katieva believes.

Meanwhile, Albert Barakhaev, the Acting Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Ingushetia, emphasizes that Magomed Mutsolgov refers in his published appeal only to the statement made by the sister of Khadishat Albakova. "The human rights defender presents no evidence in favour of the fact that Khadishat Albakova was subjected to torture and abuse. The information is one-sided," Albert Barakhaev believes.

According to him, "such an approach is an attempt to present Ingushetia as an unstable region."
