Dagestani journalists predict increased pressure on Derbent top management

The cadre reshuffling in the administration of Derbent indicates the strengthening of positions of Abdulatipov in Southern Dagestan; and the pressure on the city leadership will intensify, Dagestani journalists assert.

Today, Azadi Ragimov was presented in Derbent as a new acting head of the city administration. Mavsum Ragimov, the former acting head of the administration, is de jure on his vacation, but de facto has been sacked, said a source from the Mayoralty.

The above cadre reshuffle in Derbent took place under the pressure of the republic's authorities, said Milrad Fatullaev, the editor-in-chief of the Dagestan edition named "Nastoyaschee Vremya" (Real Time). The pressure on the Derbent leadership will continue in the future, he said.

"The ultimate goal of the republic's bosses has not been achieved yet, since it assumes to almost completely reformat the Derbent top management both at the level of the city administration, and at the head of City Assembly," said Milrad Fatullaev.

The cadre changes in the administration of Derbent indicate the strengthening of the position of Ramazan Abdulatipov in Southern Dagestan, in his turn, said Magomed Bisavaliev, the editor-in-chief of the "Dagestan" magazine.

"He needs obedient municipals, accountable to him personally. Obviously, the head of the republic wants to establish his complete control over Derbent. And, most likely, it will be the case, no matter who will be the head there," Bisavaliev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
