Court in Stavropol extends custody of accused recruiters of militants

The court in Stavropol has extended the custody of Magomed Aliev and five other persons accused in promoting terrorism until April 13.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomed Aliev, a native of Dagestan and a student of the Stavropol Medical Academy, was detained on November 21, 2014, on suspicion of recruiting mercenaries for the war in Syria. On November 27, the young man got from the SIZO (pre-trial prison) to hospital, where doctors removed a ballpoint pen from his eye. His relatives demanded to open a criminal case on causing grievous harm to Aliev's health.

On February 11, the Lenin District Court of Stavropol extended the custody of Magomed Aliev and five other persons accused of promoting terrorism, said Olga Kamilova, Aliev's advocate.

According to her story, the state of Aliev's health has improved, although he receives no treatment; she added that the check of the application about causing harm to him at the SIZO ended with a refusal to open a criminal case.

The Stavropol Medical Academy has dismissed Magomed Aliev, said his sister Amina Alieva.
