Sochi residents mark first anniversary of 2014 Olympics

Today, the first anniversary of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi is marked by residents and guests of the city; the main events take place in the mountain and coastal clusters. On the occasion of the anniversary, the Sochi Airport plans to service 170 flights, including 20 charter ones.

The 22^nd Winter Olympic Games were opened in Sochi at the "Fischt" Stadium on February 7, 2014. The international competitions lasted until February 23. The Russian national team took the overall first place with 13 gold, 11 silver and 9 bronze medals.

According to the decision of the government, Russia marks February 7 as the "Day of winter sports", a source from the Sochi Mayoralty told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "It is marked for the first time and is dated to the anniversary of the Winter Olympics; it will be marked every year now," said the source.
