JMG head: results of verification of Ramzan Kadyrov's statements may be challenged

The Joint Monitoring Group (JMG) will demand from the Chechen Prosecutor's Office to present materials on the verification of Ramzan Kadyrov's statements on responsibility of relatives for militants' actions. After examination, the results of the verification may be challenged. This was reported by Anton Ryzhov, the head of the JMG.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 5, 2014, Ramzan Kadyrov held a meeting, during which he stated that militants' relatives would be expelled from the republic, and their houses would be demolished. On December 9, 2014, Igor Kalyapin lodged requests to the heads of the Russian General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) and the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) demanding to examine these Kadyrov's statements. Igor Kalyapin had regarded that Kadyrov's words violated the presumption of innocence; and the measures declared by Kadyrov would break the law and violate citizens' rights. Today Igor Kalyapin has released the answer of the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya that failed to find any appeals to crime in the statements of Kadyrov.

"The answer sent to us by the Prosecutor's Office is to be prepared on the basis of some materials. In theory, there should be explanations of the complainant and of the person whose statements are the subject of the complaint, that is, Ramzan Akhmatovich. However, it is unlikely that we will find them there, since, for example, the Prosecutor's Office did not take the explanation from Igor Kalyapin," said Anton Ryzhov.

According to him, one more important question is who of the experts were involved in the verification of the Ramzan Kadyrov's statements.

Anton Ryzhov has emphasized that the complainant has the right to examine the materials of the verification.

"Once we get a power of attorney from Igor Kalyapin, we will submit a motion to the Prosecutor's Office. I think our motion will be granted. If it is dismissed, we will go to the court," said the head of the JMG.
